In front of media members, league officials, and an energized fan base, the AFHL officially introduced Tony Lucio as the new General Manager of the Sarnia Bees. The press conference marked a fresh chapter for one of the league’s most historic and tradition-rich franchises.
Commissioner Anthony Furino opened the event by welcoming Lucio to the league, emphasizing Hamilton’s legacy and the league’s commitment to maintaining high standards across all franchises.
“The Sarnia Bees are a cornerstone of the AFHL. Bringing in a GM with passion, experience, and a deep respect for the league’s history is exactly what this franchise needs moving forward,” Furino said.
Lucio, taking the podium for the first time as Bees GM, delivered an opening statement that instantly resonated with fans and league members alike.
“I’m honored to be taking over a franchise with so much history. From the team’s first ever draft pick of Joe Thornton as the Hamilton Outlaws and winning the Cup in 2010, to the eventual landing of the team in the beautiful waterfront city of Sarnia, Ontario. We hope to continue to provide the exciting brand of Bees hockey that the fans are accustomed to in the quest to win the ultimate prize, the AFHL Stanley Cup!”
The room buzzed with excitement as Lucio expressed admiration for both the franchise’s roots and its future potential. He also credited the passionate Sarnia fan base as a major factor in accepting the role.
Commissioner Furino echoed that sentiment:
“Bees fans deserve consistency, energy, and a GM who lives and breathes the AFHL. Tony brings that energy. This franchise is in great hands.”
With the introduction complete, Lucio wasted no time outlining his plans. While he kept specific strategies close to the chest, he assured supporters that he is fully committed to building a competitive and entertaining roster.
“It’s a privilege to step into this position,” Lucio added. “We’re going to work tirelessly to bring the Bees back to championship form.”
As the press conference concluded, AFHL insiders already began buzzing about what moves Lucio may make next.
One thing is clear:
A new era of Bees hockey has officially begun.
