The AFHL announced another decisive leadership change today as Sarnia Bees GM Tony Lucio has been relieved of his duties, citing continued inactivity and failure to meet league participation standards.
League officials emphasized that the decision was not based solely on silence in the Telegram group chat, but also on a lack of transactions and overall engagement, all of which are considered essential responsibilities of an AFHL General Manager.
Commissioner Anthony Furino addressed the media and league members during the press conference, reinforcing the league’s expectations.
“GM participation is not optional in this league,” Furino stated. “Posting in the Telegram group chat, engaging with other GMs, making transactions, and actively managing your franchise are the lifeblood of the AFHL. When a GM is inactive — both socially and competitively — it impacts the entire league.”
“We’ve been very clear about this standard. Today’s move is another reminder that if you’re not participating, you will be replaced.”
A New Era Begins: Ken Quan Takes Over the Bees
Immediately following the announcement, the AFHL officially introduced Ken Quan as the new General Manager of the Sarnia Bees.
Quan, speaking confidently at the podium, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and outlined a long-term vision that extends well beyond the current season.
“First and foremost, I’d like to acknowledge and thank Commissioner Furino for this opportunity to join The Amazing Fantasy Hockey League,” Quan said.
“My partners and I have been seeking a franchise in the AFHL for several years now. We believe we have the resources and knowledge to compete in greatest fantasy league on the planet.”
On-Ice Direction and Team Philosophy
While Quan stopped short of guaranteeing immediate success, he made it clear that competitiveness will be the standard moving forward.
“Our first challenge will be to review the existing roster and structure of the Sarnia Bees,” Quan explained.
“We don’t promise a championship as soon as this year. Our research has shown the complexity and competitiveness of the AFHL. What I can promise is a competitive team . Upon initial review, we’ll decide whether a full rebuild is necessary or if a hybrid retool model makes more sense.”
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the league and its culture:
“Until such time as we finalize our financial house and affairs, we look forward to being a proud part of the Amazing Fantasy Hockey League.”
A Message to the League
Commissioner Furino closed the press conference with a final reminder to all GMs:
“This league thrives on engagement. Post in the chat. Make trades. Talk trash. Talk hockey. Be present. The AFHL is only as strong as the people who show up every day.”
With Ken Quan now at the helm, the Sarnia Bees once again turn the page — and the rest of the league has been put on clear notice.
Engage. Compete. Or be replaced.
